9K on a Sunday morning
November 20th, 2006
Today I woke up sore from head to toe. I ran a trail run yesterday in the Santa Monica mountains. It was a beautiful single track 9K switchback trail with awesome views of the Pacific Ocean. What I had forgotten is how many muscles are required to run trail instead of road. I’d also forgotten how an elevation change of 1000 feet can make a run that much harder uphill. Unfortunately all this forgetting led ot a 7K run instead of a 9K run. Nevertheless I am not going to let myself feel badly about the lack of 2K. Instead I am going to be happy I got up and dragged myself one and a half hours away to run at an ungodly hour for a Sunday morning.
For those looking for a little adventure and spice to your running, try trail running. If you’re in California try out this little family run business. Pacific Coast Trail Runs. Happy trails.
